BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on Friday exchanged messages with his Uruguayan counterpart Francisco Bustillo on the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Uruguay relations.
Qin noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 35 years ago, the two sides have always treated each other as equals and worked together, and bilateral relations have made great progress and become increasingly mature and stable.
The two countries have consolidated political mutual trust, achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation and deepened strategic coordination, which have brought tangible benefits to the people of the two countries, he added.
Qin said that standing at a new historical starting point, he is ready to work with Bustillo to follow through the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further strengthen communication and coordination between the foreign ministries of both countries, intensify mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation in various fields between the two sides, and promote the China-Uruguay strategic partnership to new heights.
For his part, Bustillo said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Uruguay-China relations have maintained a good momentum of development.
He expressed his firm belief that thanks to the political, economic, cultural and cooperative relations between the two countries, the Uruguay-China strategic partnership will become even closer. ■
