HENGSHUI, China, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- A winter feeding event was held recently at a nature reserve in north China's Hebei Province, making it easier for migratory birds to forage.
Volunteers dropped over 200 kilograms of grain on the frozen lake surface at Hengshui Lake National Nature Reserve.
Besides winter feeding, more efforts including arranging more patrols and rescuing wounded birds have been made to protect wintering birds.
A monitoring conducted this January showed that more than 64,000 migratory birds have recently been spotted in the nature reserve, containing 60 species.
