SHANGHAI, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Jidi, an icebreaker built by China's Sun Yat-sen University is on a trial mission in Liaodong Bay to test its low-temperature navigation and ice-breaking ability.
Jidi can break through ice as thick as 2.2 meters.
After the trial mission, Jidi will join other Chinese icebreakers to boost the country's polar research and expedition capabilities.
