SINGAPORE, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- River Hongbao 2023 is being held in Singapore to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.
The term Hongbao, meaning a red packet, is a monetary gift often associated with the Lunar New Year and symbolizes good luck.
This year's event features 30 giant lanterns with the symbols of happiness, luck and blessings, carnival games, live performances and various traditional Chinese cultural activities.
Since 1986, River Hongbao has been an annual Lunar New Year event which preserves and revives Chinese culture and traditions.
Nowadays, the event has been a compelling destination for tourists who arrive in Singapore during the Spring Festival.
This year's River Hongbao runs from Jan. 20 to 28.
