ANTANANARIVO, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Cultural activities celebrating the Chinese New Year were held Saturday in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.
Students and teachers of the Confucius Institute of the University of Antananarivo showed their talent in performing martial arts and dragon and lion dances, among others.
Charge d'affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Madagascar Huo Wei sent his New Year wishes to local communities at the event. He also expressed confidence in the future of relations between the two countries.
On behalf of the Malagasy government, Madagascar's Secretary of State for the National Gendarmerie Serge Gelle congratulated all Chinese nationals on the occasion of the Spring Festival.
