WELLINGTON, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- A multicultural gala celebrating the Chinese New Year was held at the National Museum of New Zealand in Wellington on Saturday.
Performers from about 20 different ethnic groups presented traditional music and dancing with ethnic characteristics.
At the event, officials from both China and New Zealand presented their new year wishes to the audience.
The gala was co-hosted by the China Cultural Center in Wellington and the Multicultural Council of Wellington, supported by the city council.
Established in 2010, the event has become popular in New Zealand as a platform to showcase Chinese culture and boost cultural exchanges.
