BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Jinyintan Grassland in northwest China's Qinghai Province is a historic place of stories and tales. It was the birthplace of China's first atomic bomb, as well as numerous melodious folk songs.

Today, sports have added another chapter to its brilliance. Qieyang Shijie, China's first Tibetan Olympic champion, started her race walk to the top podium right from here and continues to train on the grassland and to inspire.

Sports events, including the Tour of Qinghai Lake, have brought about competitors and tourists, along with the development of the related sports industry, which means jobs and chances for a better life for local people. Traditional folk sports have always been a source of joy and health.
