MALE, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) --An assistance and cooperation program for the China-Maldives International Ophthalmology Center was launched at Hulhumale Hospital in Male on Saturday, which will assist the hospital in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, with a focus on training local medical teams.
At the inauguration ceremony, Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Maldives, expressed his gratitude for the China-aided center and the medical expert team sent by China. He voiced confidence in strengthening China-Maldives relations.
According to the program, local medical staff will also be invited to China for professional training to enable them to complete the diagnosis and treatment of common ophthalmic diseases independently.
The China-Maldives International Ophthalmology Center officially opened in Jan. 2020. The center was established with donations from the Chinese government, including medical equipment, medicine, and medical consumables.
