Multiple countries have sent rescue teams to Türkiye and Syria following two huge and deadly earthquakes that struck Türkiye and Syria on Monday.

An 82-member Chinese rescue team arrived in Türkiye at 4:30 a.m. local time (0130 GMT) on Wednesday after flying over 8,000 km on a chartered Air China plane.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Tuesday that more than 100 Russian rescuers have arrived in Türkiye to assist in the aftermath of deadly earthquakes there.

According to the Tunisian Ministry of Defense, Tunisia sent a military aircraft loaded with humanitarian aid supplies to Türkiye on Tuesday and a second plane will be sent to Syria on Wednesday.

Fire teams from Madrid and troops from the Spanish Military Emergency Unit (UME) left Spain on two military planes Monday night, heading for Türkiye to join the rescue work.

More than 8,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured after massive earthquakes struck Türkiye and Syria on Monday. In addition, many of the buildings in the affected areas are structurally unsound and could collapse in the coming days.
