NAIROBI, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Nairobi Expressway, the 27.1-km ultra-modern thoroughfare on Tuesday is marking a major milestone with 10 million customers. It has saved on logistics and commuting costs, making Kenya a diplomatic, economic, and transport hub.
The Nairobi Expressway links the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya's main airport, on the eastern side of the country's capital to the Nairobi-Nakuru highway in the west.
It was financed and built by China Road and Bridge Corporation under a public-private partnership model and was officially launched in August 2022.
Joseph Mbugua, Kenya's Principal Secretary for Roads, said the Nairobi Expressway is an iconic infrastructure project that has enhanced the smooth movement of people and cargo.
Frequent users of the expressway hailed its positive influence on their lives and businesses.
